JP Houston. At this time the Nymphets offically became Barracuda Sunrise's favorite band.

Shortly thereafter Jud decided to leave Barracuda Sunrise in order to form his own band with fellow ex-Organizer Pierre Cormier along with Shelley Brown, Mike Dionne, Adam Mowery and Steve Zaionz. They called themselves the Wooden Wives, but that's a whole other story. Barracuda then recruited Saint John drum legend Sean Boyer and renamed him Boyercuda. On December 31st, 2006 Barracuda parted ways with Jud Cra
ndall in what many would dub their most drunken sloppy set ever. It was a good send-off and the dawning on a new era for Barracuda Sunrise.

Barracuda Sunrise formed in late summer of 2005. Brian "Birdo" MacInnis used to promote a lot of Saint John shows and work at Bluetone Records. Rev. Scrud and Greg "Kip Winger" Carter (ex-Atomic Machetes) used to frequent Bluetone. More often to drink the free coffee and lay around on the couch listening to records than to buy anything. Also kicking around were too other cats, Mike Dionne and ex-Organizer Jud Crandall. Eventually Birdo, Jud, Kip and Mike decided to form a band. Rev. Scrud decided to weasel his way in, seeing as how his previous band the Atomic Machetes had just broken up and he was left rock-and-roll-less. They agreed to let Scrud join and the five of them started jamming on Canterbury St. above printing plus.

They wrote some tunes and with the help of Curtis Basque and Shelley Brown, recorded their first self-titled EP. With a full set and a quick burn-job CD ready to sell they booked their first gig opening for Maritime legends E.I. and Iron Giant. They played a short messy set, which ended with Chris Lewis (Iron Giant) wearing a huge Barracuda mask, offering a virgin for sacrafice onstage. Birdo stabbed the virgin and the other Barracudas took turns drinking her blood from a chalis. Thus the reign of of Barracuda Sunrise was let loose upon the world.

Barracuda continued to play shows around Saint John and Fredericton opening for the the Almighty Rockin' Rebels, Cancer Bats and the Dirt Track Dates. Mike played his last show on February 25th, 2006 opening for Hollow.

Over the next few weeks Barracuda Sunrise (minus Mike) reworked the set as a four piece and then did a string of shows opening for C'mon and Yellow. A few weeks later they played a seamless set with the Stabby Dancers which was recorded by Shelley Brown. Due to the drunken nature of Barracuda's set that night only a handful of songs were audiable. They were collected and released on Barracuda Bootleg Vol.1.

The next few months saw Barracuda heading up to Montreal to play with the Nymphets and Fake Blood. They continued to play more shows around New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and PEI. Playing with lots of great bands such as Goathorn, Spaceblood, the Fedoras, the Illuminati and a whole lot more. During this time they recorded a third EP which featured the Illuminati's Les Godfrey playing lead guitar on the song "Number Seven". Shelley Brown was again recording, and she took her sweet-ass time to get around to mixing it. In the meantime Barracuda headed into the woods with Dave Cook (bassist for Abolishit/Elm City Death Cult/Iron Fist/Hard Charger and many others) to record the first full length. This was done over few drunken days on the Halloween weekend of 2006.

The Barracudas then released the EP which featured "Number Seven" in November and did a mini-tour around the Maritimes with the Nymphets and

They released their first full length entitled "Battery" (which featured Jud on drums as it was culled from the Halloween Charlotte County recording sessions) on Valentines Day 2006. At this point they began to work on a slew of new songs with Boyercuda. They played more around gigs around the Maritimes. On April 6th, 2006 they got a gig opening for punk rock legends D.O.A. However Boyercuda was touring with the Stabby Dancers on this specific date. So they called in Pat Peltier (Morahambi/Scarecrow Blues Band) for the gig. He was a wildman and rocked the house. While Barracuda may not have

played their tightest set that night, it was definetly one of their funnest sets ever. They continued to play a slew of Maritime dates with great bands like the Cuban Assassins, Pipelayer, and many others as well as another mini-tour with the Nymphets. In the summer of 2007 Barracuda Sunrise sail sail west and hit upper Canada (Quebec and Ontario) with unrelenting force. Here they played with some more great bands, like Mad Parish, the Harold Wartooths and the Voodoo Mafia.
Now Barracuda Sunrise are continuing to write songs like mad-men and are in the midst of some new recordings. More gigs around the Maritimes are happening throughout the fall and more long-distance tours are being worked on for early 2008. If you want Barracuda Sunrise to play your town/city/village/shack/landfill just let 'em know and they'll be there.
